Battery Backup Systems

The sump pit is excavated at the lowest point of the basement floor, sized in depth and diameter to fit the pump model being installed. Once the pump is set, we connect a discharge line routed to carry water away from the foundation and install a check valve to prevent backflow into the pit. We then test the system by introducing water to the pit to confirm the float switch activates correctly, the pump discharges fully, and the check valve holds.

Discharge line routing gets particular attention in northern Ohio. Discharge outlets can freeze in winter and block water from exiting, causing the pump to run continuously or back up into the pit. We account for freeze risk in how the discharge path is routed, so the system can perform through all four seasons.
